• Once you’ve completed the booking request for the Piazzale Michelangelo Tour, we’ll contact you to confirm availability, and you’ll receive the voucher via email. Please have it ready on your phone or tablet, or print it out to show to the golf cart driver when you board. The voucher includes all the essential information and our phone number for any inquiries.
• Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for your appointment. Remember that you can call us to let us know if anything comes up.

• The tour takes place regardless of the weather; our golf carts are covered. In case of rain, we recommend bringing an umbrella or raincoat, as most of the tour takes place outdoors.

What to see at Piazzale Michelangelo

• Piazzale Michelangelo, from which you can admire the most beautiful view of Florence ever, was created in 1869 in honor of the famous “Divine Artist” Michelangelo Buonarroti, creator of the renowned David. The city of Florence, then the capital of Italy, launched the “Risanamento” plan, which, among other projects, included the enhancement of the Florentine hill on which Piazzale Michelangelo stands. The construction of this complex panoramic area was entrusted to architect Giuseppe Poggi.
• In the center of the square stand a bronze replica of the statue of David and replicas of the statues found in the Medici tombs at San Lorenzo: the four Allegories—Day, Night, Twilight, and Dawn.
• Abbey of San Miniato al Monte. This exquisite, beautiful church is a must-see. Upon seeing it, St. James exclaimed, “Haec est Porta Coeli”—”This is the gate of heaven.” Come with us to admire its graceful, gentle grandeur and its unique, intricate beauty.
• Church of San Salvatore al Monte. This Renaissance church, sober and harmonious on the outside and characterized by elegant, refined simplicity on the inside, was one of Michelangelo’s favorites; he used to call it “my beautiful little village.”
• The Rose Garden. A beautiful, enchanting place where you can admire 400 species of roses and about 600 other botanical varieties, but that’s not all—it’s also an art garden featuring 10 statues by the artist Folon and, unexpectedly, a Japanese Shorai oasis. Designed in 1865 by the same architect who designed the square, Giuseppe Poggi, it is open daily from 9 a.m. until sunset.
• The Iris Garden. If you visit Florence between April 25 and May 20, you can visit the Iris Garden—a stunning site that also hosts the International Iris Competition. Spanning over 2 hectares of olive groves, it features a wide variety of bearded and border irises, as well as trees, shrubs, and perennial herbs. It’s fantastic! When it is not open to the public, it is partially visible from Piazzale Michelangelo.
• Michelangelo Park. Also known as “Peace Park,” it reopened to the public in 2024. Featuring terraced areas with panoramic views, it is home to a wide variety of olive trees and offers a place to relax and picnic, a small sports field, and an area decorated with murals created by young street artists.
• Way of the Cross. This is the oldest Way of the Cross in Italy, built in the form of a staircase. Recently renovated, it can now be safely walked all the way to the entrance of the Rose Garden. When walked from the square toward Porta San Nicolò, it offers the experience of stepping back in time as you pass through the walls leading into the city center; conversely, when walked toward Piazzale Michelangelo, it offers moments of reflection with a mystical atmosphere.
• Piazzale Michelangelo is frequented by artists of many kinds; there are small market stalls, musicians, street performers, and photographers. Strolling along the square also means encountering moments of leisure, street performances, artists at work, and people with whom to share special moments.
